Week 7 – Google My Business
Eyes down – it’s time for the #atozofseo again π―
It’s our 7th week now, so that makes it ‘G’ in my book:
πΆ = Google My Business (GMB)
We’re moving slightly into the world of #localseo which is a different ballgame, but having a GMB listing is imperative for every business, whether local or national or even, multi-location.
So, what is it? Well, as Google themselves say “With a Google My Business Account, you get more than a business listing. Your free Business Profile lets you easily connect with customers across Google Search and Maps.” – what this means is that people either searching for your brand name or key service you provide that has a ‘local’ element (I’m looking at you Accountants & Solicitors) having a good GMB listing helps you show up on the right-hand side (of desktop searches, lower down for mobile) AND/OR in the Maps listings.
You see things like name, address & phone number (this is referred to as NAP & having a consistent NAP is important), opening hours and other goodies such as Reviews (HINT – get good Google reviews if you want to show up well) & ‘Posts’ (another hint – ADD these) & Photos (yep, you guessed it, add these too).
Make sure you claim your listing too – sometimes these get added via other ‘aggregators’ – and link to your website!
The goal is to end up with a search panel when your brand/company name is searched for, like this for yours truly.
Neat huh?
